Coming from small town roots and singing from the heart, Codie Prevost has carved out his place in Canadian country music, and he is ready to create a storm once again with the upcoming release of his fourth album “All Kinds of Crazy”. Building on the momentum of his first three award winning albums: “The Road Ahead” (2005) and “Spin 6-PAK Vol. I” (2008), and “Get Loud” (2010) Codie Prevost is set to release “All Kinds of Crazy” on March 1st 2014.
Prevost is a three time Canadian Country Music Awards nominee and five-time Saskatchewan Country Music Association “Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year” winner.
“All Kinds of Crazy” was recorded at the Armoury Studios & Studio Downe Under in Vancouver, Canada with producer Tom McKillip (Lisa Brokop, Ian Tyson). The album was mixed by Scott Cooke (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen).
The album features some of country music’s hottest studio musicians including guitarists Darren Savard (Chase Rice) & Jay Buettner (George Canyon), on drums Jerry Adolphe (Chilliwack) and bassist Dennis Marcenko (k.d. Lang). The track “I’ll Be Your Whiskey” features acclaimed guitarist & vocalist Hayley Mclean.
Calling “All Kinds of Crazy” country music is kind of restrictive, as Prevost delivers 8-tracks of pure-fire produced, Adult Contemporary songs that are driven by rocking country coupled with mid-tempo power ballads. This is simply a great mix of music!
Codie shows that he can certainly tell a story with his music as he shares a little bit of his personality through each song. Not to mention that he also gets the foot tapping and the leg slapping going. Codie has the ability to sing songs that are just pure fun and others that tug at that vulnerable place in your heart.
The opening “I’ll Be Your Whiskey” sets the tone for the album and Codie just rocks out from there. Along the way you’ll find my favorite standouts like: “All Kinds Of Crazy”, “Down The Line”, “Melting Into You”, “Someday” and “Last Night All Day”. But I really liked every song and it’s not often that I find myself liking every song on an album on the first listen.
Not typically a country music fan, I was reeled in by Prevost’s French sounding surname and curious to check out what he sounded like, after reading somewhere that Codie’s music was at times over-produced. After listening to the assortment of great tracks on this album, I understood his universal appeal; apart from the great songwriting and singing, the production is just so well-rounded, flawless, and captivating, that it’s hard to resist!
Definitely listener-friendly music for diverse audiences and it gives great insight into the modern, next generation of Country sounds! Also, in the unlikely event that you’ve never heard of Codie Prevost before, “All Kinds of Crazy” is a great introduction for new fans.
Codie Prevost is one of the most talented Country-singer-songwriters to come along in a long time and his latest album is truly addicting. Every song could easily be a top ten hit!
