London Rose was in one of the Midwest’s finest cover bands, playing 100+ show a year, garnering awards, popularity, and high profile gigs when she made the brave decision to go solo as a singer-songwriter. Branching out as a solo artist, she earned awards in the Great American Song Contest and the Unisong International Songwriting Competition. “I realized if I wanted to sing and write my own songs, I had to go out and make it happen.” The tracks on London Rose’s solo EP, Kick Drum all feature her songwriting imprint with collaborations from pop heavyweights like Greg Camp (Smash Mouth guitarist/songwriter) and Grammy Award-winning writer, Jeff Franzel (Josh Groban, N’Sync, Clay Aiken).
What is there that sets her apart? Take one listen to her voice and you’re sunk. Call it what you will, but London Rose has the voice, smoothness and brassy edge of a true woman, not the little gimmicky brats that dominate pop music these days due to clever packaging and marketing.
London Rose makes the statement that you don’t have to be just a pretty face with great beats to make classic pop gems; you can also have a voice. If you only listen to one track make sure its “Get On Up“, a classic dance/pop song sung with such passion and vigor it makes this album worth the money on its own! The bonus of course is that the tracks “Should Have Been Me”, “All About Us”, “Fake”, “Kick Drum” and “Never Be The Same” are all equally good and sung with Rose’s committed sentiment.
Kick Drum is a mix of upbeat songs and slow songs. The songs concern love & relationships. Sometimes it’s playful; other times the its reflective. This is a power pop album, with shades of R&B, dance and rock. She doesn’t over-jump on the EDM bandwagon; but it’s there if needed.

The songs on the album are kept fresh and current with excellent production. At no point does it seem like the songs are over-produced. The other thing about the production of these songs is that there is a variety. From simplistic ballads, to upbeat pop songs and the EDM-inspired tracks make sure the album never sounds stagnant.
I eagerly await her future accomplishments. Though her voice has tinges of Mariah Carey (listen to “Never be The Same”) and Christina Aguilera, she has a similar musical formula to the one that has made Katy Perry a superstar. Her music is a must for anyone who enjoys catchy pop tunes. Cleverly crafted, tightly produced, high energy songs that are insanely fun to turn up loud, sing along and dance to. London Rose is just a plain tasty treat all round!
London Rose is the real deal. If you are on the fence about Kick Drum, seriously, pull the trigger. You will be glad you did. She deserves your support. One day she is going to be a top selling pop star, and you will be able to say: “I liked her music way before the world jumped on board!”
The official album release is set for the 26th November 2013.
