Big Chris: “F The World” is an impressive project

After releasing his first Mixtape ‘In One Hand’ three years ago via Coast2Coast Mixtapes Big Chris is back with his latest single “F The World”.  A blend of Chris Brown and Drake, Big Chris is really talented; no doubt he will pop off soon enough. He is a UK born singer, rapper and producer focusing mainly on Hip Hop and R&B music. His style brings old-school magic to modern-day urban productions.

On “F The World”, smooth vocals are laid over a breathy and atmospheric soundscape, as Big Chris sings his verses you’ll get lost in his world. He tackles life and love’s problems head on with his pen and paper. While his talent is existent through his rhymes, his voice and his beats, “F The World” is not what you would call a ‘groundbreaking’ song as this territory has been marked many times before.

However, there is plenty of room in the urban genres for artists such as Big Chris – especially when they are capable of marking that common territory better than just about anybody else around. Big Chris a great singer in his own right, but his talent truly resides in the way he phrases everyday situations in his music.

He is traditional in his sense of sound, but provides a new age twist. As soon as you think he’s one thing he switches it up to another.  “F The World” is an impressive project highlighting the mark of true RnB star, which Big Chris has the potential to be.

“F The World” goes for a distinctive sound and it’s pretty clear it achieves just that. The track relies heavily on bassline and a typical Trap/RnB beat to great effect on a hypnotic track about commitment and confidence. As a whole, it’s an enjoyable record that exposes more potential sonically than anywhere else in the genre.

R&B artists have been getting ambitious about their soundscapes these past few years, breaking the mold and often going for a more obscured, layered and introspective panorama. If Big Chris is all in for that, specially his mix with more contemporary beats, and the willingness to put together a more elaborate project next go-round with more songs, let’s say an album or mixtape, things could get very interesting for him.
