Hailing from Worcester, MA, born in Montreal, QC, and of Haitian origin, K-Osiris is up and coming 21 year old emcee embracing the best of both worlds and Hip Hop cultures. KO began rapping at the age of 14 drawing inspiration from his late cousin J. Belly. After many years of rapping as a pastime, KO decided to go all in and put his talents out to the world.
KO is slated to drop an EP by the end of the year, and in the meantime has released his latest single, “Soul Searching” (Prod. by Josh Petruccio), which follows his previous release “Intoxicated” (Prod. By @CashMoneyAp).
The Worcester rapper’s vulnerability is as much a stamp of his realness (and marketability) as is his raw mixtape aesthetic in a versatile, crowd-pleasing package on “Soul Searching”. The track doesn’t shy from its broad ambitions, offering a slow-banging street jam and urban groove that requires K-Osiris to dose his energetic flow and craft a knockout hook to carry the song – something he does to perfection.
His voice straining with emotion and urgency, trembling somewhere between indignation, ambition and rage, is utterly captivating.
K-Osiris is a lyrical wizard who isn’t afraid to interrogate, analyze and surmise on things happening in his life or around him- “Them young boys, they been on the road / Them young boys, they been soul searching / Mullah searching was the only mission / Them young boys they turned vicious…”
With “Soul Searching” (Prod. by Josh Petruccio), the Canadian-born rapper showcases his vibrant personality, within noticeably roomy, melodic sonic contours, which ultimately gives the good, evil, and delightful grey areas of his lyrics some refreshing context.
Whether you find him to be honest, inquisitive or real, K-Osiris clearly will not rewrite his actual persona, refusing to do away with the honesty that makes his music so spellbinding.
“Soul Searching” unfolds like an explosive reality show; it’s raw and uncut, with questions, conflict and reflection. With the waning careers of the once immovable rappers who came before, in full swing, K-Osiris’ attempt to ascend to the top of his game, is perfectly in sync with the rise of the new breed of male rappers hitting the scene, and right now, hip-hop needs rappers like K-Osiris desperately.
