Jarradcleofé is a DJ/Producer residing in California. A big fan of house music and kdramas, he has dropped the EP “monstera”. There would be no more appropriate way for me to begin my review rather than to say that this 3 track compilation is anything short of incredible. On this particular original mix Jarradcleofé pulls together some of the best deep and progressive house, downtempo and ambient tunes from his creative mind to form an excellent blend of electronic music that will provide his listeners with a record to enjoy some of the best music the genre has to offer.
With tunes like “someone”, “saussurea” and “monstera”, this EP has the essence of a night out, while keeping things from getting too clubby which makes the recording an enjoyment in your room, car, iPod or wherever you prefer to partake.
Only a DJ/Producer with the experience of veteran can be mature enough to craft a collection of tunes that seem as if they were meant to have been mixed back to back while keeping things interesting enough to lock a listener in for the entire listen.
The odd thing here is that the ‘veteran’ in question, Jarradcleofé, seems to still be very young. But that doesn’t stop him from producing like a veteran!
All of the productions on this EP are virtually perfect in form, melody, style and groove in my opinion. That is much more than I could say in many of my recent electronic review contributions. In a period where the number of progressive releases seems endless, there often comes along one recording that blows everything else out of the water, “monstera” is one of them.
The EP is fantastically produced, with twists and turns and an unrivaled flow. It’s a return to the happier side of progressive, a return to the state this genre was a few years back, healthy, vibrant and joyous.
Jarradcleofé is obviously a man of so few words, yet plenty of emotion, as he even draws some cinematic flavors out of the electronica. He weaves in and out of dreamy, agile soundscapes that are dance floor friendly.
Just when you think he has found a groove of mysterious, tense and layered synth, Jarradcleofé injects something else into the arrangement and switches gears into another sublime melody and luscious moment. This EP will leave you in the clouds and begging for the break.
The progressive drums will leave you breathless, and the acute echoes will drag your heart across the methodical chords and melodies. You will feel like love is pulling you, and life is pushing you.
