Singer, producer, songwriter and a dancer, Joseph Alexander Mariadasa Daniel from Germany is better known by his artist name, MARIA D.A.S.A. At the age of six, MARIA D.A.S.A. made his first appearance on stage as a dancer. By the age of eight, he had learned how to play the keyboard and performed his first songs. In 2007, D.A.S.A. competed in the famous German talent show (Deutschland sucht den Superstar) where he impressed famous German producer, Dieter Bohlen, with his captivating voice and talent, which led to him getting recalled back onto the show. 32 000 candidates competed in the competition and MARIA D.A.S.A. was selected as one of the top 100 best singers.
MARIA D.A.S.A. dances like a dream, on record he’s a firecracker, and on his latest track, “Pump It Up” he proves to be one of the sharpest operators in pop. His versatility in music as well as his artistry (dancing, writing, singing skills) is unparalleled in the independent pop industry in any part of the world. The new single follows the typical Pop/Hip-Hop oriented genre, as you would expect from a modern urban artist.
This variation is really nice to hear, especially these days when most artists stick to purely one kind of song. As a rapper, D.A.S.A. does a great job on “Pump It Up”, as a singer, he does even better. He has his own distinctive inimitable sound and style of performance, while his gifted voice is never faltering. This is a pleasurable, identifiable track, with strong realistic lyrics and a rhythmical, melodic and uplifting arrangement.
MARIA D.A.S.A. is certainly a bright prospect with some motivational and enlightening words advocating his perspective on hope. “Pump It Up” is an infectious pop anthem, and is head and shoulders above the majority of pop music littering the charts at the moment. It is pure, premium pop – superbly written, and expertly delivered, with a refrain that is as catchy as anything.
