KyD Kahlil Rapper, DJ, and Producer from the Southside of Pittsburgh who has been writing since he was 9, has dropped his latest single, “Money Thru Me”. Versatility is perhaps KyD Kahlil’s greatest strength, aside from an abundance of talent—not only as a rapper but also as a songwriter, producer.
He can bounce between soulful ballads, street jams and club bangers with ease, with his energetic vocals always present. He is a mixed-bag of tricks.
Sonically, the project is tight. The production is familiar enough that it becomes another stretch of pavement on the 2016 musical highway. The instrumental is a collage of staple elements. High hats tap away, while electronic symphonies of sounds build up a majority of the energy you can expect from KyD Kahlil.
The song kicks off with a wavy synth which is lifted by the occasional background harmonizing voice. The man in charge ends up using the moment to boost his confidence, and his ability to flow over the elements in the beat, make it one of the more enjoyable cuts on the circuit.
Listening to “Money Thru Me”, it becomes clear that KyD Kahlil does some things better than most, no doubt about it. When he’s in his pocket on this project, it’s exactly what you could expect from a skilled rapper. KyD Kahlil delivers a tight, layered track with more depth than I thought could be drawn out of this style. The single follows a trajectory that let’s all sides of Kahhil’s musical prowess shine through.
“Money Thru Me”, may or may not exceed the musical brilliance of any of his previous material. But could very well be a career-defining hot moment. This is one of those tracks that bops with the beat fantastically! And besides the lyrics and the song’s theme, it’s just that swervy flow that makes it helluva infectious!
