Young Von, from PG County, MD, is an upcoming artist on his grind, who has already had talks with major labels. Young Von plans to drop a selection of singles in the coming months, which he’ll also be releasing through his Soundcloud. In the meantime he has dropped the track entitled “Focus”.
All the songs from Young Von’s catalog grow on you or catch your attention right away. Von and his awesome productions are beautifully married with witty and deep lyrics as well as moving, melodic beats. He sings, he raps and he grooves. In a word, Young Von is smooth. And very smooth too, is his attest single, “Focus”.
This may be his best project thus far and I believe you can hear that Young Von feels that way to, by way of his effortless skill as a rapper-singer on this track. This is definitely the type of music Von needs to keep dropping. The wordplay is there, the beat is there, choruses are there, and the voice is there…and so is the p*ssy word, which seems to be such a stimulating turn-on these days on any recording, when used in a positive sense.
Since “Used To” and “Work Hard”, Young Von has proven himself to be a master of the rap sound with great flowing verses, but he’s also been able to step outside of it brilliantly. With “On Time” he gave us a glimpse of his smooth R&B styled vocals, and now “Focus” confirms all the good that came out of that track.
Young Von has taken the premise of “On Time” and made it into absolute musical gold with this new track. He shows a sense of discovery on “Focus”, like he had figured out his own personal musical language and exploring where it could go, exceeding his own expectations, and certainly ours. With an air of authority, Young Von will have surprised and blindsided both his fans and haters alike with the release of the sublime “Focus”.
