Spzzy Turnt: “4EVA Turnt” steps outside the box!

Rap heavyweights Drake, A$AP Rocky and Future have all taken cues from the South, now enters Trenton, NJ native, Spzzy Turnt who has jumped into the hip-hop ring with his EP  “4EVA Turnt”, a slightly different breed of trap-rap. Keeping the same momentum from his previous releases, Spzzy employs a steady tempo in his flow through majority of his tracks to make sure you grasp what he’s saying.

Dig deeper, though, and his lyrical content about partying, popping, sipping and struggling are filled with substance. The 6-track project is marked by a slew of high moments, exposing Spzzy’s talent for storytelling and Tha Noize’s art of dark trap production.

Over addictive piano riffs, entrancing synths and snapping snares fit all the peepholes into personal life stories. The wrestling rhymes prove Spzzy Turnt is a lyrical monster locked in a flow that fits his turnt lifestyle. He slightly touches on social ills too. “4EVA Turnt” looks weird on paper but strangely pleases the ears.

“4Eva Turnt (Prod.Tha Noize)” is one of the standouts of the EP and is a heavy hitter with a nice hook that is infectious to say the least. The production is top notch and is a classic infusion of the trap-rap sound. Turning up the heat a notch, “Lifted (Prod.Tha Noize)” is a cesspool of abrasiveness that is sure to make you want to mosh your troubles away.

The unorthodox production and brash delivery come together to create a great example of intoxication personified in sound. This is immediately followed by “Adderall (prod.Tha Noize)”, another one of my favorites off of the EP. On this track Spzzy Turnt very catchily raps on verses layered over a quality trance-like production from Tha Noize.

One of the more aggressive tracks on the EP “LINK UP (Prod.Tha Noize)” is definitely a standout with its space-age synth production. Spzzy Turnt shows off rabid, unbound energy to get any crowd rocking. Something he repeats to great effect on the EP closer “The Kitchen”.

Overall I‘d say “4EVA Turnt” offers an exceptional pallet of hazy, head banging trap music. Spzzy Turnt makes it clear with this effort, if it wasn’t already, that he has no fear of stepping outside of the box to make quality music.

His great sense of production choices, conceptualization and the quality of the content and all-round vibe he surrounds himself with puts him in an optimal position for success. Spzzy Turnt comes through with a consistent sound, making this a stellar-sounding project from front to back.
