Yeddy: “Eliptical” strikes a balance between great writing and impeccable sound design

It’s often said that if a piece of music affects a person emotionally, the piece is a work of art. In that sense 16-year-old producer, Yeddy’s latest release, “Eliptical”, written in memory of his late cat, is that work of art. Though this music was born out of a sad experience, the mix of a tasty electronic beat with a catchy melody just grabbed me and lifted me up. It’s like all the best elements of pop and EDM, all mixed together. It’s a positive sound that will energize you to your depths.

The track is easy and interesting to listen to from start to finish. The stellar production and layers of varyingly smooth sounds is what drew me into it. Yeddy just excels at making feel good music. The track just unfolds and reveals new charms with every listen. “Eliptical” strikes a balance between great writing and impeccable sound design.

Yeddy is a House/EDM producer who knows how to twiddle the knobs to pump up the beat, but still maintain a controlled energy. Now that we’re older, we still love the music, but we don’t have the energy or the desire to go off our faces every weekend. There’s only so much of that you can take. We still get out, we still dance, but now we don’t want the songs to help us lose our minds; we want them to help us find it.

You can see this change in a lot of the EDM music being put out by some older DJs and Producers across the boards. Now though Yeddy is only sixteen years old and probably the exact opposite of what I described above, his track “Eliptical” just strikes the ‘mind-finding’ nerve I’m talking about.

EDM is great for a lot of reasons, but one of them is its constant flexibility, and the way slight tweaks can blur the boundaries between electronic sub-genres. What was once used to get the pulse pounding, with a few small changes, can be used instead to excite the mind.

The music on “Eliptical” has got the pulsating energy, the inventive freedom, and the creativity to it, but there is also a constant vein of contemplative introspection to the song. Yeddy is not afraid to make music that you can move to, but is also meant to move you – emotionally, mentally, and maybe even spiritually.
