Renee D’Angelo: “Jameson & Jack” represents a rare instance of pure excellence from a newcomer

Renee D’Angelo is a precociously talented contradiction of sorts.  The Country-Pop singer songwriter from Long Island, NY, started singing lessons at age 6, was picked for the first round of the American Juniors at 8, embarked on guitar lessons at 13 while being a contestant at the Apollo Theater Amateur Night that same year. At 16 she started developing her songwriting skills and by the age of 18 she got over her fear of performing her original songs in front of audiences!

Now Renee has released her 5-track Ep entitled “Jameson & Jack”. I listened to a few seconds of some of the tracks on her Ep and I was sold on buying the thing. Once I listened to the entire Ep I absolutely loved it!  Right from the start, with the title track, Renee comes at you at a fast and groovy pace that sets the tone for the Ep musically, lyrically, and emotionally.

As crisp and cool as she comes out, when she slows things down like on “The One Thing ( I Got Right)” you can enjoy and appreciate the variety you’re given on here. You also experience the range of emotions Renee can display with such a captivating voice that once you’re in tuned into this Ep you won’t be thinking about anything else.

Let me preface by saying that if you have eclectic music tastes ranging from pop to country to rock, you’ll more than likely find a song you’ll love here. You can easily rock out with the upbeat “Cold Hearted Man” or you can swing to “Figure It Out”, just as much as you can cuddle up to the smooth and warm acoustic pop of “Kites”, which also happens to be my favorite song on the Ep.

Renee D’Angelo, who has opened for Lee Brice and had her song “Jameson & Jack” played on My Country 96.1., has an exceptionally beautiful voice and strong songwriting skills to match. This Ep represents a rare instance of pure excellence from a newcomer. The lyrics are mature and deep, while the music is well played all around the Ep. Renee is a modern day country music singer, so there’s just a little more pop than there is twang, which ultimately means she’ll be moving towards a much wider audience as her popularity grows.

On the whole, “Jameson & Jack” is a fantastic Ep and I really hope she does not go overlooked because Renee D’Angelo  is a talented young woman whose career has just started – and it has started with a big bang!
