Mike Spitz: “A Place Called Home” screams honesty, integrity and an earnestness!

If you travel down I-‐75 through Michigan, you will come up on a small town by the name of Saginaw. Not known for anything much more than being nationally recognized for violence, basketball, and failed economic hopes. Yet Saginaw is a place called home to many. One of the natives that call Saginaw home is Mike Spitz. Mike Spitz is an American Hip-hop artist who has been releasing music and videos that have been creating quite the buzz. Under his nickname “Spitzer”, he released several albums and performed with national recording acts such as Scarface, D-‐12, Too Short, Twista, Bone Thugs-‐N-‐Harmony, Jon Connor, Saliva, and Taproot.

Mike Spitz’s musical journey has been truly fascinating and inspiring. He is able to do what very few mainstream artists today are able to do and that’s write and sing from the heart without a care in the world for music awards, top twenty charts or creating hits. His latest track “A Place Called Home” is a throwback to another time – a simpler time with feel good music on the radio, and good times with good friends. The track screams honesty, integrity and an earnestness that is both refreshing and enjoyable in today’s musical landscape.

The most impressive thing about “A Place Called Home”, over and above the solid production and great vocal flow by Mike Spitz, is how truly relatable it is. It could be the soundtrack of many of our lives. The thrill and excitement of better times, sharing moments with our families and friends in the comfort of our own homes, and having enough money to live a decent life, doing the things we love doing, without anybody giving us a hard time.

“A Place Called Home” is an extremely well-produced, well-written and well-performed track. Mike Spitz’ strong and passionate, gravelly voice, together with the feel-good music rhythms, brings an almost Third Wave Ska feel into this Hip-hop track. It’s like Kid Rock meets the Dirty Heads meets Rittz. Once you put this track on, it won’t be leaving your player any time soon!
