Deda oBAMa: “Raw & Uncut” – It’s in the flow riding the beat!

Deda oBAMa is co-founder of B.A.M. (By Any Means), a.k.a. BAM Nation. Born and raised in Walker Homes, Memphis, TN, he has done work with multiple artist in Wisconsin such as Prince Tre, Trub 6block, Moe Money, and of course his brothers from another mother the Twin Towers. Deda oBAMa currently has an album on iTunes and Amazon with Sire Montana, called “Family First”, and he has also added another project, his mixtape, entitled “Raw & Uncut”, which has appearances from Mac Daro of the Memphis Money Team and OG Set Trippa.

On “Raw & Uncut”, Deda oBAMa continues his evolution, and luckily you get to reap the benefits. This mixtape explores new territory in a good way compared to his earlier releases; everything has taken a step up. Deda has a deft rapping style that switches up often enough within a song so that whenever you start to feel comfortable he brings something new, either musically or lyrically. He obviously pays a lot of attention to his beats, as they are crisp, and not overly mixed, and really let the listener focus on the lyrics and musicality of each track.

The great thing about this artist is he is unique. He combines his influences and takes them into the future. He isn’t trying to be the next mister anybody here either; his major talent isn’t in storytelling or lyrical skills. It’s in his flow, riding the beat, and the way the words just come out, the way riding the beat makes you feel and nod your head. Some of the time it doesn’t even matter what he says because you are caught up in the mood, but then if you listen carefully there some gems in the lyrics too.

From the moment Deda oBAMa opens with the title-track, to other standouts like “Don’t Show”, “Look In My Eyes”, “Set Trippin” ft Set Trippa, “Get To The Money” ft Trub, “Fuckin Or Not” ft. Moe Money, “Don Jap” ft. Twin Towers, “Mr. Pure & Bars” and “Return Of The Mack”, the sound is a combination of genres from the past and into the future.

I prefer the 90s hip-hop to all we have coming out now, so I really don’t pay attention to many of the new guys who come out, and usually stick with those who I know, but when you come across a mixtape like “Raw & Uncut” you need to pay attention. The hooks are pretty cool, great production value, hot beats, and Deda oBAMa has a real nice flow to match.
