Ryder is an Indie pop artist enjoying massive online success via Soundcloud, Spotify, Hype Machine and YouTube. Her first two singles have a few million streams online and “Pretty Little Gangster” went to #9 on Hype Machine. The second Ryder single, “Ruins”, went to #30 on the Global Viral Spotify chart as well as #10 on the United States Global Viral Chart on Spotify as well as being featured on KCRW radio. On Youtube the tracks have collectively exceeded over 3,5 million views. And all of this has been achieved on an independent of a label.
Ryder lets us know that she is leaning towards the electronic pop influence on these tracks. Her vocals and her edge certainly shine through heavier in this setting. That isn’t to say that her rock and indie influences aren’t strong or that they aren’t notable here, for she allows them to trickle through just enough to give the songs a sharp bite. Ryder understands that she has a varied fan base and she plays to that strength.
She has an appeal that can transcend age groups, and she has the talent to back up that following. Between her heartfelt delivery of weighty themes, her shiny vocals and the bouncy love of her catchy tunes, Ryder proves with her latest offerings that she is here to stay in a big, big way. You’ll hear beats and audio tricks that will immediately remind you of current and recent pop giants.
Her ballad work is stunning, as expected. “Fade Away” offer us a more layered look at her beautiful voice, which really explodes in the chorus sections, giving me chills. I love the way that Ryder’s voice comes through with such tenderness in parts and then roars in others. She has the ability to infuse it with such power and raw emotion. Ryder is absolutely the realist, most stunning female artist there is out there right now, independent or major.
Her music has the power to turn any crappy day into a more than bearable one. She already has a voice great enough to grant her the label of a “powerhouse” vocalist – I can only wait to hear the greatness that comes from her maturity – personally, lyrically, and vocally – in future years, that will without a doubt leave her set to have her name accompanied by great titles and massive success. Her vocal chords are out of this world and “Pretty Little Gangster”, “Ruins”, as well as “Fade Away” showcases her talents proudly and wonderfully.
