The album is a consummate blend of acoustic-guitar driven folk-rock with touches of Celtic undertones, which incorporate soothing layers of vocal harmonies and delicate piano interludes, sparsely sprinkled across the musical arrangements.
Jason together with producer Jeffrey Joslin, has created an intimate no-frills sounding album.
The final production generates the impression that we are all comfortably sitting in the same room, while Jason strums his guitar and sings his life-inspiring songs to us.
The compositions seamingly aspire to question and enlighten our innersouls, as Jason’s rich bass voice delivers it’s undoubtable gospel-inspired messages.
Jason says, “My goal is to create music that helps change the way people look at the world around them and to see things in a new light. All while enjoying the ride.”
“Chords of Truth” has been described as similar in style to such popular artists as Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, and Johnny Cash to name a few. Artists who represent a genre of music that has all but disappeared today.
So Chords Of Truth remain almost in a league of it’s own.
Starting with my absolute favourite track on the EP, “The Power To Be Alive”, you have the impression that the music has been distinctly left intact and almost untouched by the production process, wanting to transmit it’s almost barren message of spiritual honest intergrity.
A perfect example would be the beautiful and tender ballad, “When I Was Wasted”, which relies exclusively on the clear power of Jason’s voice and the hypnotic acoustic guitar strumming accompaniment.
“Tune Your Mind” and “Listen” delivers more of the same, vocal-guitar-mix qualities, which can be found on all the tracks on this EP.
” What Life is About” differs, in that Jason lays on his fingerpicking guitar style. The song is very reminiscent of some classic John Denver sounds, except that Chords Of Truth, tend to prefer the basics, leaving out full-on musical orchestrations.
No pulsating rhythm section. No super string or horn arrangements. No synthezisers or keyboard laden tracks to speak of.
“Chords Of Truth” is characterized by Jason Garriotte, his trusted acoustic guitar, the sweetly sung melodies and the power and honesty of his lyrics.
This sound combination has resulted in Jason’s having already caught the eye of talent buyers, college radio, and an ever increasing fan base.
When not in the studio, Jason puts his dues in on the road, and has already toured a variety of cities throughout the United States. This year will prove to be busy with the exciting new album release of “Reflections of Reality”.
Jason will be spending the year on tour playing countless shows and promoting the album.
The CD is available at performances and via online retailers including iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. Please contact CoT directly for booking and/or interview requests via the Chords of Truth website.
