An awesome modern funk mix with old school sounds and classic grooves.
It’s rare that I will describe an album as a ‘groovy’ or ‘fun’ listen. Not that listening to music is not groovy or fun, but often times it is not the emotion that first comes to mind when listening to music. However with “Blind No More”, Vlad Khr has crafted a sweet, musical carnival ride that is a joy to listen to. No one told Vlad Khr that it’s not 1970 or 1980 anymore, and he is all the better for it!
“Blind No More” is soaked in nostalgia and glistening with the gleam of 70s-80s minimal, but dynamic funk with an 808 twist. It’s impeccably lush and catchy with sparkling composition, a laid-back but heart-thumping beat and deliciously chopped horn stabs. Vlad Khr’s charming and flamboyant personality comes out strongly through this original mix. His production is subtly intelligent, consistently artful, and wildly infectious.
“Blind No More” is an awesome modern funk mix with old school sounds and classic grooves. Unlike a lot of more modern electronic artists, Vlad Khr’s songs are genuinely ‘authentic’ sounding; they’re catchy, melodic, and all the instrumental samples and sounds are surprisingly ‘musical’ in the mix. They have a vintage vibe but with modern flair and classic charm.
If you like funky, soulish sounding music along the lines of, Zapp, Cameo, George Clinton, Funkadelic, ADC Band, 9th Creation etc, then grab this. It’s retro, funky and definitely modern electro.
Among varying genres he works with, Vlad Khr is one of very artists also perfectly produces this specific Funk style of music today, you could think that “Blind No More” was recorded in 1983 but it’s actually brand new; setting Vlad Khr at the top of the pile of interesting electro music producers.
