Heartbreak: “Blue 100’s” – filled with swagger, tenacity and demand for attention!

Heartbreak is a duo comprised of Prince Lean of Richmond and Louie Liv3. Displaying an artistic exuberance fuelled with a streetwise knowledge of urban society, Heartbreak smash their way into the public conscious with their latest single, “Blue 100’s”, firmly attempting to establish themselves as one of the most talented indie Hip-Hop acts around. Musically and lyrically they drop a gem with this release.

The slow, methodical rhythm of the track just captures your mind, and is held together by a thrilling and haunting production that breaks down each verse and enhances the choruses. Together they lay down a saucy and sexual theme with cunning lyrical ability filled with swagger, tenacity and demand for attention – “Come on baby girl I got what ya like. Bend in over lemme do what I like. I’ma pull out everything that you like. Blue Hun, Blue Hunnitz Blue Hunnitz.”

Heartbreak never waver, bringing the truest and purest street speak to your ears. Both rappers are at their peak, musically, and bring different skill sets to the table to combine and create their tracks. On “Blue 100’s” they reach out and grab your attention with every word, telling you exactly how it is, with uncompromising flows.

They are no strangers to the world of creativity. And they really prove it well with this track. It is a perfect mixture of music and lyrics that takes their hip-hop to the next level.

Heartbreak isn’t totally a mainstream group, but they are definitely accessible. Listening to tracks like “I Need You” and  “Talk To Me”, you can hear the catchy radio friendliness in the music and vocal deliveries. And although they don’t write about a mainstream-friendly topic here on “Blue 100’s”, their rap sensibility still sounds amazingly and refreshingly catchy.

Rhythmically, on this track, Prince Lean of Richmond and Louie Liv3 ditch the simplistic meter of the previously mentioned songs and begin to employ a more progressive rhythm. On this, they perform lyrical counterpoints to the beat, occasionally purposefully falling slightly behind or vocally propounding the beat where it wouldn’t normally fall. It definitely gives the song a distinctive sense of rhyming urgency, which keeps the listener locked into the track.
