Pop rock gets eclectic thanks to this expressive duo. Eclectic Verve is a two-piece pop/rock band from Lakewood, Colorado. Kent Lehman and Cindy Musil describe the name Eclectic Verve to represent their musical expression in the best way possible. Lehman is the singer/songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, and Creative Director of the band. Musil is a singer and the Band Program Manager of Eclectic Verve. It’s obvious that these two are extremely dedicated to their music and it shows through their many songs. Some bands that compare to Eclectic Verve are Collective Soul, Big Country, and R.E.M.
Eclectic Verve’s 12- track debut album, Something on the Way, features harmonizing vocals, catchy rhythms, and very positive vibes. This debut album from Eclectic Verve is described by the band itself as an “eclectic blend of pop guitar-driven rock stirring 80s influences with a modern rock twist.” This description proves to be accurate after tuning into the first few tracks of Something on the Way. This album also features guest musicians; Kevin and Carl who delivered percussion and bass on each song, to liven Eclectic Verve’s first album.
“Am I Crazy?” is a mellow song that strides on a very pleasant underlying rock rhythm, blending in perfectly with the pop-like vocal style and a catchy guitar hook, which will stick in your head all day long. “Signs” is a track that possesses the same easygoing feeling but really stands out with soothing guitar riffs and a soft rock vibe. “Cobalt Sky” is the perfect tune to blast in your car on a fun road trip. The song has an absolute feel-good vibe that funks and grinds, blissfully taking you back to the vibrant spirit of Eric Clapton’s classic, 461 Ocean Boulevard album. This is music made to drive the inner spirit to a higher place.

Take a load off when you listen to We Are The Watchdogs, one of the most dynamic songs on the album. This track is reminiscent of the musical style hammered out by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan. The electric blues elements that are prominent throughout really make this song one of the standout tracks on the entire album.
However it’s Through The Eyes Of God, that soars, climbs and reaches just that one bar above the rest. Be it due to the powerful and enterprising string arrangements or maybe the simple, yet heartfelt lyrics, this one’s so inspirational and uplifting, it’s really hard to resist. Kent says that the song is a spiritual tribute to his cat of 19 1/2 years, confirming that “Animals can help us learn simple life lessons if we take the time to pay attention.”
The songs on Something on the Way design a melodic and picturesque soundscape. Production highlights include the glittering guitar riffs, the solid bass lines, and the disciplined drum beats, with just enough string arrangements adding colorful textures to several pieces. And then there are the vocals: crystal clear harmonies form a consistent backdrop, to Kent and Cindy calling out to each other in heartrending affinity. It’s a bit like having Michael Stipe and Grace Slick on the same album. This is as close as you’ll ever come!
After uninterruptedly listening to track-after-track, Something on the Way proves that just the single word ‘eclectic’ can easily and accurately describe the music of Eclectic Verve. Both Lehman and Musil collide to create a sound that is undeniably melodic, rich, and powerful. The emotion that is heard from the talented musicians in this album will truly bring a smile to the listener’s face. Something on the Way has something for every true music fan and it’ll be apparent the moment you press play.
