Dead At Eleven is an up and coming original rock band from London, England. The group formed at the beginning of 2012 and is quickly becoming recognized for their strong live performances. Their music combines rock guitars, punchy synths and big vocals to create catchy songs that are full of energy. With modern influences ranging from Muse, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age to more classic artists such as Led Zeppelin, Neil Young and Pink Floyd, Dead At Eleven mixes genres and styles and aims to produce music that is entertaining and engaging.
The band have produced 3 EP’s in 2013 which are all available for free on their website www.deadateleven.com or on www.soundcloud.com/deadateleven and have played a load of live shows around London including headlining the O2 Academy.
Of the 3 Ep’s, we checked out, “Black”. It’s hard to say that this is the best of this year’s three releases, but Dead At Eleven’s ability to craft a tight, full sound with impossible-to-resist rock-n-roll hooks is better than ever here. “Don’t Change” is just insane and gets you pumped up. “Take It Away” is my favorite and “Dead Weight” will seriously rock you.
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) once said that the reason the music business is in shambles has nothing to do with piracy. The problem is that there is virtually no talent who merits our hard earned money. Seems nowadays, anybody with Autotune gets a contract and airplay. Dead At Eleven prove to be the exact antithesis of this concept.
I can’t really think of any other band that is playing real genuine rock n’ roll like this. Bottom line is, every song on this Ep is a keeper. Listen to “Black” maybe three times and you’ll have all the songs stuck in your head. This is a five star Ep, no doubt about it. It’s raw, it’s from the heart and most of all it rocks.
Sure there are some awesome rock acts out there such as Porcupine Tree and Radiohead, but aside from Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters, Dead At Eleven are spot-on in terms of a truly great modern rock sound that seethes and roars with genuine rock n’ roll dynamism.
If there is a constant with Clark Carter – Lead Vocals/Guitar , Ben Mercer – Keyboards/ Backing Vocals, Andre Filipini – Bass and James Lewis – Drums, it’s the fist-pumping melodic tunes with radio-friendly sounds that they pump out.
If you’re looking for a perfect rock Ep from start to finish, go pick this up right now, it’s FREE! Support real musicians that provide quality music to their fans. “Black” is a musical treat for anyone who likes good solid rock and roll. So much out there nowadays, is simply in your face walls of sound, without any substance. Not so for Dead At Eleven!
