Chioke Dmachi: “Str8 Nazty” Ft. Geechi Dan & Vaughn builds in a super emotional way!

Entertainer Chioke Dmachi has all the angles covered, from being an actor to a muic recording artist. His TV and film credits include House MD, Crossing Over, Drake & Josh, CSI Miami, and the comedy Cuttin Da Mustard. Chioke has also appeared in several national and international commercial Campaigns, which include Pepsi Directed by John Landis, and Liberty Mutual.

As a singer and songwriter Chioke has been on soundtracks such as “Brothers in Arms” and has had songs featured on TV shows such as ABC’s Miss Guided. His 2011 debut single, “BoyZ Don’t Cry” was meant to increase awareness of the Bullycide epidemic plaguing the youth. In 2013 his single “Luv On U” video was nominated and won an EOTM award.

Chioke Dmachi followed those successes up, with the single “Str8 Nazty” Ft. Geechi Dan & Vaughn. On first listening, I was a bit weary – of its up-tempo, pop-rock infused and almost techno-like. And wasn’t sure if this was a good thing or not. However, the genius that Chioke Dmachi is, he’s taking listeners on a journey through his music and lyrics.

The track changes directions down with some cool, but inspired raps. The song does something interesting. The beat breaks down, then Chioke’s voice pleads, “Look at me, I can’t control myself. I can’t control my body” and Chioke repeats, mocking the plea.  “Look at you, you can’t control yourself. You can’t control your body”.

This track displays a crossover of many modern styles, and there’s just so much going on. Chioke describes it as “the quaint essential party jam. It’s a fusion of Pop, Rock, Hip hop & just the right amount of wrong.”  If you’re not at a party, then this is the kind of song you need to blast in headphones.

The chorus is so layered and intense, with the overdriven guitar sound in the background. By the climax of the song it just builds in a super emotional way. I think this is a gorgeous song. The chorus will make you feel like you’re floating on top of the thumping bassline, and the growling synths add a lot of atmosphere to the proceedings too.

In a way Chioke Dmachi has managed to recapture that insatiable and urgent pop-rock sound often showcased by Michael Jackson in his up-tempo chart toppings recordings. Masterfully blended with modern Pop, Techno, Rock, RnB and Hip-hop, it sounds like he has cherry picked vintage sounds from the world’s expansive vintage musical repertoire while delving into electronica and his own personal sound-bank, weaving these seemingly disparate musical styles together rather seamlessly.

On “Str8 Nazty” Ft. Geechi Dan & Vaughn, Chioke Dmachi is in his ultimate element, and I’m glad that I joined him on this musical ride!
