‘Vanity’, a single from Sojourner For Truth & Ilumi Black brothers from Memphis, Tennessee, sojourning through life trying to find the answers to the questions that plague one’s soul. Through our love and passion for music hoping that our story and our journey will minister to others.
‘Vanity’s’ inspiration was by the observance, witnesses, and testimonies of our lives and others. The book of Ecclesiastes brings truth to what we have come to understand. Man’s endless pursuit chasing after what he thinks will bring him happiness, but when he’s about to die, he finds that what he’s spent his life pursuing wasn’t as important as he thought.
This song has a smooth sound with hip-hop elements and a truthful message that we all can relate to and, I hope that this song inspires people to take a step back and access their lives, asking themselves what is important to me. Are my hopes, dreams, goals, and pursuit’s valuable, profitable, fruitful, or vanity (like chasing the wind).
