Ray Bruvva C: “519 ZOO” (Gucci Zoo Remix) will expand your consciousness

Artist Ray Bruvva C has been in the rap game for about 3 years now coming out of London, Ontario, Canada. The 20 year-old rapper, has done a remix to Fetty Wap’s “Gucci Zoo”. The song, says Ray Bruvva C, is him attempting to put the 519, his local scene on the map, and letting people know not everyone in 519, a district about 2 hours from Toronto, has it easy.

No matter what you think of each individual example — and opinions vary pretty drastically for new rappers – this new wave of young rappers teaming up or remixing consolidated projects is a thrilling prospect.

Ray-Bruvva-C-350I can think of a dozen projects of the sort, in the past, that that have completely redefined the landscape, and a dozen more that may not have made that large of a wave, but still have made an impact and been a ton of fun along the way.

This new reworking, entitled “519 ZOO” (Gucci Zoo Remix) from Ray Bruvva C would solidly fall into the latter half of that equation. The track is a fine remix, with iconic moments, a memorable beat, and it rolls by smoothly.

Still being a young artist, at the outset of his craft, Ray’s technique has not yet matured into the type to stun hip-hop heads with transcendental rhyme schemes or complex wordplay. But make no mistake this guy will win you over with his personality, style and substance, as his verses weave and flow together with the beat spontaneously.

Ray-Bruvva-C-300He still has plenty of time and the full potential to complete his technical metamorphosis, from fully competent, to completely brilliant!

There is a mountain of remixes of this Fetty Wap track doing the rounds on the web, and Ray Bruvva C’s version, produced by Frenzy, holds up admirably with the rest of the crowd. The fact alone, that he tackled this already overworked project shows distinct courage in not being afraid to measure-up to his contemporaries, and also the willingness to explore and expand his craft, fundamental traits not to be overlooked in any artist.

“519 ZOO” (Gucci Zoo Remix) takes you into Ray Bruvva C’s world. It’s intelligent, raw, honest, and will expand your consciousness about the 519 district, which is Ray’s prime goal anyway. All in all, it’s a job well done and a good basis for whatever should be coming next from Ray Bruvva C, as he continues to build his catalog and sharpen his craft.
