Fresh off their first US tour, the Italian-based band, Heavy Wood, is preparing for the upcoming release of their debut record. Set for release in November, the album promises to be the full-on whopping portrayal of the hard-folk sound that already has people talking on both sides of the Atlantic.

With members from Tuscany, Salento, and Montana, the acoustic power-trio has materialized as a melting pot of music and culture, drawing comparisons to Gogol Bordello, ACDC, and even Ennio Morricone.
Besides their unmistakably aggressive approach to playing acoustic guitars, Heavy Wood also features “the drawk”, guitarist Rob Cavallo’s own invention. The 7-string guitar/bass combination gives Cavallo (Faggiano, Puglia) the full range of a grand piano without need for effects or pedals.
The band also features the powerful style of Matteo Flori (Abbadia San Salvatore, Tuscany) on drums, and extremely versatile vocals by both Cavallo, and the band’s lone American member, Nate Kantner (Bozeman, Montana).
Upon the release of the record, the band will be touring in both Italy and the US. Information on tour dates as well as news about the album can be found right here at www.heavywoodband.com, so stay tuned and get ready to re-think everything you thought you knew about acoustic…and Italian music!
