Electronica Doll: “Like A Child With Butterfly Wings” – almost certainly the purest distillation of all her energies to date

Electronica Doll aka Isobella Caroline Boucher is a singer/composer, formally of the Band Daniel Sketches Isobella. She has decided to branch out as a solo artist and her new premiere album “Was it all a Dream” will be coming out shortly. In the meantime she has dropped the track, “Like A Child With Butterfly Wings”. This music has no boundaries or categories. It’s almost Debussy-like in its expansiveness and seeming lack of traditional structure. Electronica Doll creates music that assists folks in coping with the daily stress of being an inescapable hybrid of animal, spirit, and machine. This will obviously not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you enjoy post-modern assimilations and music that tests your comprehension to the point of accepting the sheer joy of abstraction, give this track a spin.

electronica-girl-sorrowExperimental, primal, evocative, and gorgeous, Electronica Doll aka Isobella Caroline Boucher has produced a lot of great music in the past, but “Like A Child With Butterfly Wings” and “Sorrow Clouds are almost certainly the purest distillation of all her energies to date. Her sound on these tracks, tap into something deep within that is elusive, magical, haunting and difficult to describe. It is playful, yet it is distant, but it grows into something more overwhelmingly present, as the songs unfold.

“Like A Child With Butterfly Wings” is something that would almost universally be embraced in the underground/indie music community.  It morphs and careens its way out of the ambience and abstract environment and you end up somewhere you never would believe if I told you. I love how Electronica Doll is able to mutate herself into something new, always exploring different themes. Her electronic compositions seem to carry with it the very essence of life. In every song you can feel it glow, grow, and wane. The notes seem to be flowing from some source, seeming to exist only in that very instant. However If you were to try to comprehend exactly what is going on in her music, you might get lost by either the turbulence or the tranquility.

Electronica Doll aka Isobella Caroline Boucher continues to grow and stretch out with her music. “Like A Child With Butterfly Wings” and “Sorrow Clouds are truly a couple of the most eclectic recordings that I’ve heard this year. Electronica Doll is heroically playful with the human voice, braving bizarre compositions that seem as unpretentious as they are unapologetic. These tracks certainly will deserve their indie short-list accolades, but be forewarned: these songs might not do it for those who seek rigid pop structure and predictability.
