Cocoy Claravall, the Indie Christian Songwriter, started writing songs when he was in high school in Baguio City, more commonly known as the summer capital of the Philippines. After graduating Cocoy moved to Manila where he began working and continued to write music, though not as often as he had liked. Today he has a successful career in the tech industry and is married to his wife Glenn, with whom he has a family of three kids – Tommie, Robbie, and Raffie. However, music still is Cocoy Claravall’s passion: “As long as I am here, I will share this talent and hopefully inspire others along the way,” says Cocoy, “my personal mission is to be able to bring as many souls back to Heaven.”
Day in and day out we are bombarded by billboards and Internet pop-ups enticing us to purchase the latest model of sports car or to covet the latest iPad or to visit the hottest dating site on the web. Though these apps and services may promise some sense of thrill and gratification, they ultimately won’t be able to satisfy that insatiable emptiness God has shaped in us.
The panache, advocated by Cocoy Claravall in his songs, is not in chasing after these idols but God himself.
Not only does Cocoy articulate this spiritually-warranted truth through his music, but he seems to practice it. “Live My Life For You” sees Cocoy scrutinize his worthiness as a Christian. Looking deep inside to find where he has faltered and where he needs help from the Lord to overcome his weaknesses and pain.
But his song could so easily be everyone else’s song. So often we look to blame others for our errors and unhappiness, when we should be searching inside ourselves. It is often there that our truths can be found. And that, I feel, is what Cocoy Claravall is teaching us through “Live My Life For You”.
He makes you feel as if he is singing directly to the Lord. His testimony will touch so many young women and their children who are looking for an excuse not to succeed in life in spite of their circumstances. There are no mistakes in this world from something as powerful as the gift of life.
Over a lusciously rich musical production, Cocoy sings in beautiful melodic tones, his voice clear and precise. He makes you feel as if he is singing directly to the Lord. His testimony will touch so many people who are looking for an excuse not to succeed in life in spite of their circumstances.
There are no mistakes in this world from something as powerful as the gift of life. If you are going through anything, and I mean anything, this will definitely encourage you through the tough times. We need music that takes us to another level, not just music that makes the world happy, but music that satisfies the soul, and truly “Live My Life For You” is one of the recordings that touches the heart of God.
Collaborating with Cocoy Claravall on this track, as he so often does, is Paul Tagle, who is involved in the arranging, production and background singing of the song.
