Singer, Song Writer, Rapper, and Actor Trevon L. Rubbins was born in Layfayette, LA and raised in Galveston and Houston, Tx. Trevon grew up without a father so he was very much influenced by the street life. In his early 20’s Trevon studied under his mentor Frank Caldwell, a gospel singer, that taught him how to take his vocals and his singing to another level.
Naturally charismatic Trevon was also tapped by his pastor to speak to youth involved in gangs and to help financially strapped individuals pay their utilities. He has traveled throughout Ohio in many outreach programs in prisons. All the while Trevon has amassed a number of credits to his name, from being a semi-pro basketball player, to being a member of a dance group.
He has also completed his debut movie role as well as first appearance in a T.V. show on ABC. Musically Trevon works under the rap name of “Blue Flame”, while he uses the moniker “Treyology” for his R&B exploits.
Forget all the sub-genres of rap – Blue Flame is the personification of true rap. His flow, his phrasing, and his lyrics are ill. Anybody who wants to hear what straight-up rap is supposed to sound like should take a listen to the single “Hustler’s Motivation”.
To truly appreciate this piece of work you have to be a real rap fan, if not you might as well continue trying to learn that funny new dance. It sounds like he’s on a different path-and a whole new level. The warm piano driven beat is incredibly soulful, showcasing Blue Flame’s ability to rap without having any type of weak pop crap rap in his rhymes.
“Hustler’s Motivation” represents the more contemplative side that Blue Flame brings to the table within his catalog of songs. Are you looking to move away from the low-talent, filler song, no substance emcees blasting out of FM Radio, that seem to dominate the rap game today?
Then return to the roots of the genre, as Blue Flame shows no mercy in making other rappers look downright stupid with their over the top deliveries smothered in pseudo pathos and uncontrollable angst.
Blue Flame aka Treyology cruises by with a laid-back flow that will make you bob your head while you feel him. His flow is, well, about as smooth as you can possibly get. He’s just butter on the mic, and makes his verses seem effortless. He somehow balances the perfect organic sounding beat and bass with an easy paced flow to make a really likeable hip hop song.
The lyrical style, flow, effects, and production – everything just fits together perfectly on “Hustler’s Motivation”.
