Supported by a mellifluous production, YM is able to reach his maximum potential on the single ‘Pressure’ ft. Charli. He writes his bars with such keen detail and clear images that it just takes one listen to become hooked to his vibe. Hailing out of Paterson, New Jersey, YM began his musical journey performing at talent shows and local events, before tragedy struck. The artist experienced health issues due to gun violence, which temporarily halted his career trajectory, and left a bullet inside of him. However, his determination has kept him moving forward, and has rewarded him with many opportunities.
The opportunity to perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem and other prestigious venues in the Tri-State area. His meeting with Grammy Nominated musical vet K-Mack, who offered him the opportunity to sign to his label 1801 records.
The opportunity to work with artists such as Coi Leray, appearing on the front page of the Herald News, and being interviewed on Dj Drewski’s show ‘The New MVMT’. The list is endless due to YM’s grind, as he continues to be a voice in his community, shedding light on issues such as poverty and gun violence.
Through it all, YM has avoided musical stagnancy and introduced several refreshing nuances to his craft. The single, ‘Pressure’ ft. Charli abundantly shows off all of these beautiful traits within the production, and the performances offered by both YM and Charli.
The songs expands his sound to an impressive scale that does justice to the breadth of ideas and experiences on which his artisanship has been focusing on all along. I do think that YM understands what moves the needle when it comes to making hip-hop music.
‘Pressure’ ft. Charli is a really smart and multifaceted statement from YM, promising even bigger things to come. Throughout the recording, you will hear infectious melodies, boisterous lyrics, and a booming beat: a perfect combination for rappers in the modern rap lane.
‘Pressure’ ft. Charli is a banger that you can easily blast out your car or play at lit-ass clubs. Here YM proves that he is more than capable of creating a piece of work that is highly entertaining.
Flaunting his unique style of flow and voice, the New Jersey rapper dabbles in infectious, melodic bars on ‘Pressure’. His tone wholly satisfies the ears as listeners don’t have to think about the words, instead they can just vibe along to the groove he constructs.
Charli, on the other hand, brings the harder edged rapping to the song, as she brandishes her technical wares with pride and gusto, while unpacking her verses. It’s a perfect combination of contrasting styles.
‘Pressure’ ft. Charli is definitely one of YM’s better projects. It stands out, makes people look up from what they are doing, and really gets them hooked to the groove. As YM thrives in his zone, the song produces enough earworm energy to keep interest sustained for multiple listens. Those who press play on ‘Pressure’ ft. Charli will get YM’s malleable vocal work and the extensive detailing of the production, for an explosive listening experience.
