Yellow King: “Electrifying Lovin” – the real R&B sound with a soul-induced funky groove!

There is music that people need to hear and then there is music that people need to have. Very seldom does a recording warrant the feelings of the latter and “Electrifying Lovin” the brand new R&B/Soul single by Yellow King, via Pagoda Productions, is that kind of music.

This style of music is considered a lost treasure by many, but somehow the recording slipped through the cracks of the current urban scene and onto our sound system. How come nobody saw it coming? What is wrong with these record companies?

yellow-king-350The real mystery here is why talented artists are pushed aside to make way for the auto tuned nonsense that hits our ears whenever we turn the radio on? Oh yeah, I forgot…it’s all about the quick buck. It’s unbelievable how many talented artists go without getting any airplay or widespread recognition.

Yellow King is one of those hidden treasures, and “Electrifying Lovin” is yet another example of good music done on the side by independent artists. I’m just glad that I was able to catch it in time. The writing and production on the track is top notch.

Yellow King pulled out all the stops and provided a track of masterful work with great collaborators. As I understand, lending their creative and performance juices to this track is Yellow King on vocals, Bill Blass on guitar and Jim Bean on vocals.

As fresh and relevant as this track is, it’s hand-clapping and guitar-picking retro flavor makes you nostalgic and wistful on one hand, and grateful on the other hand that this kind of music lives and breathes in the hearts and minds of those of people who may have missed the experience of the original first wave of its power so long ago – the real R&B sound with a soul-induced funky groove!

Yellow King and his crew lay on the rhythm and groove in thick layers of thumping drums and bass. Even the most staid wallflowers will find themselves grinding their hips to the quality of funky groove these guys put out, and which, sadly, is lost on the screechy R&B dance disasters released in the present day.

The vocals slide in on a sultry melodic whisper and remain understated, cool calm and collected all the way through. It’s a wonderful balance of harmony, sophistication and eclecticism that morphs into a driven dance rhythm which in turn quickly ignites your deep desire to jump up and dance wherever you are–and this is one “Electrifying Lovin” desire you just can’t fight!
