As the name Pablo Iranzo suggests, the artist has clear Spanish roots, but he is based out of Munich, Germany. The singer-songwriter, who writes and performs in English, has been gathering material for a few years now and is working his way closer to a debut album release set for 2017. Pablo recently presented us an exclusive listen to a couple of tracks that will most likely be included on the upcoming release.
Pablo Iranzo’s “Eye Of The Storm” first released in 2013, exhibited plenty of promise. Hypnotizing as it was, it still left room for improvement. Now, “Overdose” must surely be his coronation. Superb from top to bottom, Iranzo leaves very little room for nitpicking or criticism. The balance is nearly perfect.
The track opens moodily and mysteriously, in the most `gorgeous’ way. Pablo’s vocals are clear, never obstructed by the production. A constantly evolving cut, the full scope is realized when the production expands to its lushest – pads, strings, reverb-laden guitar.
The attention Pablo Iranzo pays to detail is impeccable. Accompanying his excellent performance is a host of thoughtful vocal and production ideas from Iranzo. The basic production itself is chilly and cerebral in the alternative sense. The epic moment arrives as Pablo sings “All I know / All I See / Through all the pain / Is you and me”; the excitement level grows with Iranzo’s voice sounding its most melodic, enthused and invested.
“Lost & Found” packs as much melodic punch as anything else Pablo Iranzo has done. As important as his vocals/lyrics is his beloved acoustic guitar, in which the riffs are jangly and organic. The song is hypnotizing, with reverberated vocals and harmonies swamping the atmosphere.
Both these songs epitomize excellence. Incredibly well conceived and defined by musicianship and creativity, they are easily among Pablo’s best creations. Enlightening, layered, modern, edgy, moody, distinctive and full of feeling. The tracks are also non-pretentious and not trying to perpetrate as just another set of artsy songs.
Pablo Iranzo, with his melodically pronounced voice and mesmerizing alternative rock sound inundates us into a trance throughout these songs. Everything: from the spare, post-rock-like softness, to his earnest, crystalline vocals, to the impeccable production and crunchy rock guitars make these songs particularly special and poignant. It is also absolutely sublime listening with decent headphones.
