Sure generally music is everybody’s kind of personal taste. But if one described it as deep, many layered and melting in a perfect way between eight concise, semi-psychedelic and progressive electronica tracks, with dubbed in samples, full-on vocals and accompanied by diverse organic musical instruments, I’m sure we’d all be interested in listening to it, regardless of our preferred genres. And herein lays the first fatal attraction with MVJOR ARCVNA’s music. Its second deadly charm comes to the fore when you actually hit the play button – this stuff is so totally enthralling and captivating, with a multitude of explosive layers and dynamic sound and rhythmic changes in one song that genre labeling here would be, in a word – ridiculous!
Have you ever tried to put water into a flimsy square cardboard box? How long do you think you could keep it there? So why would you even attempt to put MVJOR ARCVNA in a genre box? Avoid, and let your mind expand with the music and subsequent arrangements on the ‘Tower’ Volume 1 album, which will keep you as glued to the audio as if you were watching a Michael Crichton techno-thriller movie.
All tracks are utterly beautiful, containing lavish work that swelters with swagger and soul, and calls you back with alluring bass lines and electro-charged breaks; devastatingly diverse instrumentals pop up along the way – each is so good, it’s a toss-up between which incarnations you’ll end up liking most.
If EDM is the biggest thing to happen to popular music since hip-hop, then perhaps MVJOR ARCVNA is electronic music’s second coming. MVJOR ARCVNA is unlike any other band you have listened to because its creator, Jaron Pearlman is an artist and producer with performance talent and an appreciation of the history of music – both organic and electronic that belies almost all of his contemporaries.
Jaron Pearlman (MVJOR ARCVNA) is an audio engineer, backing musician, and songwriter based in Atlanta GA. Over the years he has toured and recorded with a wide range of artists, including The Indigo Girls, The Shadowboxers, Amor Kismet, Mercury Jackson and more.
A diverse multi-instrumentalist he plays drums, guitar, bass, keys, and banjo. MVJOR ARCVNA is his brainchild, an eclectic electronic project with traditional instrumentation; ‘Tower’ Volume 1 is the first release for this endeavor, with two other projects slated to be released this year.
‘Tower’ Volume 1 contains a fully satisfying blend of solid beats with innovative electronic sounds that creates an atmospheric feel to all of its songs. The first track, “Funk Pusher” quickly sets the mood and pace of what can expected on the rest of the album. After only one and a half minutes of music, MVJOR ARCVNA has already taken us through rock, blues, electro, hiphop and Dubstep flavors.
This eclectic scheme is used in many different variations on the subsequent tracks, and you’ll easily find your favorite formula among the tracks. Mine is the epic EDM arrangement of “SlowerCloser (Letters to You)” which features an uplifting and soaring female vocal.
Though for me the best track on the album is the stomping, progressive Muse-like “Temporary Beings (We Belong Together)”. The other song that definitely grabbed my fancy is the melodic “Melt Away”. But seriously folks, there is just so much to like here. MVJOR ARCVNA has taken the foundations of organic and electronic music, and created an entirely new and exciting sound.
