In 2010 Junior Turner entered a competition to release a national single for BBC Children in Need. He went on to win the competition out of 110,000 applicants to release a single for “BBC Children in Need”. In Oct 2010 he shot to national fame when he recorded and released a cover version of the world famous “The Impossible Dream”
Whilst promoting his BBC single he had handed out demo recordings including a self-penned track called “Say Goodbye”. In due course he received a phone call from war veteran’s charity “Help for Heroes” co-founder Bryn Parry asking if they could use this song for their charity. Junior Turner released Say Goodbye in support of Help for Heroes in April 2011.
In 2012 he recorded his first ever official 1radio UK newcomers chart number 1 single with ‘Loveblind featuring Jess Wood’. He then went on to follow that up with a further 2 1radio number 1 singles with ‘Sweet Love’ and a Christmas 2012 number 1 with ‘Hurt featuring Robbie Williams guitarist Neil Taylor’. The same year he released his eagerly anticipated and critically acclaimed debut album ‘Under Scrutiny’.
In 2013 he followed it up with the release of ‘Better Day’ which has had rave reviews both here in the UK & in the USA. Junior Turner followed this up with yet another self-penned track titled ‘Natural & Nice’ telling the tale of how one’s self confidence levels when magnified can become one’s self destruction. This has recently topped the official UK unsigned chart. Hethen went on to change his genre once again to show his versatility by releasing ‘Hurricane’ telling the tale of Karma, which was released September 27th 2013 and went on to top the charts in Scotland and for 3 weeks in New Jersey, USA.
To round off a huge 2013 for Junior he went onto end the year with a ‘4th’ release. This time he ticked the box all great singers do, by releasing his self-penned first ever Christmas song titled ‘It’s Christmas Time’ (So let’s celebrate). This also went on to receive rave reviews around the globe and top the state charts in the USA.
Now Junior is back with another single release, as he looks to make 2014 his most successful year to date. The power ballad ‘Save Me’ is due for release March 2014.
I have repeatedly felt, release after release that Junior’s new music is more mature and pure, and to prove it, his new single, ‘Save Me’, is another beautiful song showcasing his voice and the driving sound of the piano. It’s just one of those tracks which go overboard in being super-inspirational.
As usual Junior’s trademark ‘much more than capable’ vocals is ever present. If you like adult contemporary pop or emotionally passionate music, this one’s for you. Junior Turner is one of a kind. Unlike many of his counterparts, he does not sing sugar-coated ballads which you normally find in boy-band music currently doing the rounds. Turner himself is a composer and this makes all the difference.
‘Save Me’, is another excellent song, sung with Mr. Turner’s truly remarkable voice. His voice can soothe and also take it up another notch or three as needed. His words, voice, and spirituality can move souls in many ways. It is an insight into your innermost feelings, and as always everyone can relate to his music. I challenge you to find another young, upcoming artist with such depth, soul, and commitment.
‘Save Me’ will prove to be a great purchase for all types of music lovers. It has something for both the Top 40 crowd and the Adult Contemporary music lovers.
