The Australian wizard of downtempo and retrowave enters the New Year with a brand new single that will suspend you in time. A wonderful teaser of the artist’s upcoming 2020 album, “Ones and Zeros”.
It is painfully rare in the age of commoditized content to find an artist whose intentions are pure, creating only for the sake of creation. Andrew Hetherington is one of the select few. Unbound from all creative restriction and pressure one would expect from major labels, Hetherington is free to create whatever he desires. This is the kind of environment where indie thrives and artists like Hetherington can write a pop song one day and on the other, an emotional, instrumental epic, such as “Intemporal”.
Even though, Hetherington is best known locally for his eclectic style, he is deeply rooted in the 80’s synth pop sonic landscape. Fortunately in recent years, 80’s nostalgia is stronger than ever, as retrowave and synthwave is hitting more and more speakers worldwide.
What sets Andrew Hetherington apart from his dime-a-dozen peers is the sheer complexity of the music as well as its capacity to convey emotion.
