Ervin Mitchell is a songwriter and rap artist from Memphis, Tennessee and currently based out of Atlanta, GA. He has built a strong organic social media presence and continues to grow a global fanbase with his lyrical wordplay and genre-bending collaborations. Ervin gained his first acclaim through a collaboration effort with an EDM producer from the Czech Republic named DJ PON3.
Their Dubstep and Hip-Hop mashup “Soul Cry” took off online and has spawned over 10 remixes, over 100,000 streams and thousands of new fans from all over Europe, Asia and South America. Ervin released his debut project the ‘King Shit EP’ in the 4th quarter of 2015. The project’s stand out single “Stay” was featured on Spotify’s Weekly Discover Playlist in March of 2016.
‘Space Cowboy (Part 1)’ Ervin Mitchell (Produced by Fro Sosa), is the first of a 3 part adventure called Space Cowboy. I’ve been listening to this track non-stop today, and there is almost nobody that sounds like Ervin Mitchell. He is breaking through the norm of what a rap record should be.
Ervin is in a world of his own – innovative and at the top. Of course there may be other MC’s with more lyrical talent; of course the production on this track could have been even more epic, but if you delve too much on how much better it could have been, then you’re going to be miss what you have in front of you – which is a whole lot!
As of right now ‘Space Cowboy (Part 1)’ is not a classic (that takes time). But what you do have at the moment is an underground recording that is a game changer and I doubt many other hip hop artists (individual or group) can come close to the level of this production and lyrical creativity. Trust me, with every listen the track just becomes better and better. In due time it will be relevant of how well executed this ‘Space Cowboy (Part 1)’ really is.
Ervin flows and rhymes with relative ease and a confident nonchalance, while Sosa dishes out an eclectic electronic soundscape. Both Ervin Mitchell and Fro Sosa sound like they are in a creative prime right now and who knows just how much better this thing is gonna get by the time we hit Part 3!
