Born and raised in Elizabeth (Eastwick), NJ, “Tox” has had a love for music since he can remember. Learning how to play trumpet at age 10 and how to DJ at age 12, gave him a developed ear for what moves people. Dtox accidentally fell into making music in November ’08 when he went to visit a friend during a studio session his friend had booked.
Dtox Dtreeman has just released his latest track, “Live Life” featuring Flee Jones. This is the first single off the upcoming project “I Need Dtox” dropping this summer. This joint is hot all the way through. Dtox has a smartly paced rhyme style, and the bass-driven production by @xvibarz compliments him perfectly, while the smooth vocal hook does the rest to make this track truly attractive.
Dtox stands out from the hip hop crowd. I love the little things he does to his voice, like the way he drags it, and then reaches up on a higher tone, right into your face – it’s extremely creative. It also separates him from many of those average/lame rappers, because remember…everyone wants to rap nowadays. Dtox can talk about some deep issues if he wants to, but sticks to popping bottles, sex, material things and money on “Live Life”, which works fine considering the song title.
Most rappers out there hide behind beats and marketing. This man just rides with it, rapping with emotion and skill while avoiding the hype. Again, his wordplay and rhyme structure separates him from rest of rappers in the business, so he doesn’t really need all the hype. Of course some people are going to overlook him because of this, but others will take him more seriously; simply because Dtox understands how to make a hip hop track.
“Live Life” featuring Flee Jones has everything that you expect to get from a classic track. And besides the production values, and ear-candy sounds, you get a lot of insight into where Dtox has been, where he is, and where he plans on going. You get clever punch lines, great story telling ability, and just plain, straight up rap skills.
