C-Los N.S: “Ye-Tape” is on a journey of deeper understanding

Songwriter and Rap Artist C-Los N.S (Carlos Ruelas) was born in Santa Rosa, California (East L.A.), and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. He recently released his mixtape, entitled “Ye-Tape”. After listening to it three times, I must say that this album is a mature product. C-Los N.S sounds like he has graduated from the rap game. He has an intelligent narrative that goes along with the music, while the experience is filled with more emotionally charged singles rather than club bangers. The production created is haunting with each song bringing about a different mood but it fits the messages masterfully. Beginning with “Inscriptions” that will have listeners following C-Los N.S questioning events in his life. We immediately get a sense of what his state of mind is.

The first half of the mixtape is a perfect mix of emotions. Following the insightful intro, we get a serious promise that no one can take any accomplishment away from C-Los N.S on “30 Hours”. After that, the crazy and eclectic anthem, “Father Stretch My Hands” in some way will inspire people to triumph over adversity. I don’t know why that is, it’s just a sensation I get.

If there’s anything immediately noticeable on this mixtape, it’s a sincere level of confidence. Another thing that transpires listening to these tracks, is the sense of hard work, respect, and gratitude that seems to be the cornerstone of C-Los N.S’s music. These are probably the same values central to his life.

The mixtape features a wide range of thought-provoking lyrics. Songs like “Staying Alive” explain the constant personal battles, and the chaos involved in sentimental relationships. One of the standout songs on the mixtape, “Carry On Prod” features C-Los N.S again searching, looking, and deciphering situations, saying: “I wanna see things real clear, real clear.”

The standout track, “Wise Man” is not only an acquisition of maturity for C-Los N.S, but it is also a reality check. The haunting production, intriguing narrative, and interesting music shows that he will never take anything for granted. Which is a thought process that is different from most other rappers. It’s a certifiable earworm and a solid, slow burning anthem.

It is a rare trait for rapper’s to produce a mixtape’s worth of content with genuine emotional and musical diversity that maintains the key quality of actually being good. The closing track, “On and On” sees C-Los N.S’s focus on this purpose and progression. His artistry is excellently executed in this project and will have fans wanting more. “Ye-Tape” is no doubt C-Los N.S’s best work to date and is definitely a must listen for hip-hop heads and listeners everywhere.

His subject matter is thought provoking, his songwriting skills are great, and his production selection, which steers away from the usual fare, is impressive too. C-Los N.S is on a journey where bravado has been dropped, and a deeper understanding and appreciation of life, and his art, is the real growing sensation towards becoming the total finished product.
