[fbshare type=”button”] [twitter style=”vertical” float=”left”] Two of progressive rock’s legends have joined together in a new band. Steve Hackett and Chris Squire have formed Squackett. The two veterans of Genesis and Yes, respectively, will issue their debut album as Squackett during May next year, on Esoteric Records.
Although Hackett hasn’t played with Genesis since leaving the band in 1977, Squire is still very much a part of Yes.
Yes’s latest album, ‘Fly From Here’, reached number 36 on the Billboard charts this past summer.
Hackett, also no stranger to keeping busy, released his solo effort, ‘Beyond The Shrouded Horizon’ this past September.
Speaking with Blog Talk Radio, Hackett gave some insight into the partnership, “There’ll be certain things on there that I think you’ll be hard-pressed to say this is a combination of guys that have come from Genesis and Yes. I think it’s bigger than that. We cast a wider net over all the genres”.
