The Godfada is a 23 Year old hiphop artist from GA, signed to Murda Team Records. There is almost no doubting his remarkably easy flow and creative metaphors, which can either make you just want to hear more, or rewind it to hear what he just said. While listening to the EP, “Boss” and hearing some of his unbelievably creative rhymes, I wondered how The Godfada came up with these storylines. Or his lived those tales personally, or he has a damn fervent mind.
The Godfada has the ability to hit you in all types of places which is a rare quality in an emcee and is completely extinct in today’s rap. Aside from the lyrics, The Godfada, brings in some of his wickedest beats. Using experimentally spooky and out there sounds to create his unbelievable beats which are always put together perfectly to allow The Godfada to flow right over them.
“Boss” is one of those EP’s that bring people into hip-hop. It’s dark, macabre, over the top and surreal. The production is top notch, the samples and beats are spare, gritty, rambling. The whole thing works perfectly.
Good also for jogging, lifting, washing dishes, playing cards, driving long distances with friends chanting the lyrics. Pity the Ep is only 3 tracks long. Lyrically, this is just on a different plane.
No one quite sounds like the The Godfada, he’s one of those inimitable individuals who can’t help but rock his own way. His flow and verbosity with a deadpan delivery are seldom matched in current arenas, as it’s got a real old school flavor with a modern urban edge which is hard to find today.
From the EP opener, “Beware”, The Godfada uses so many intellectual metaphors and similies that his emcee boasting becomes something higher than that of other rappers, and actually takes on a conceptual meaning.
Not only are the lyrics dramatically complex, ghetto-infused words of wonder, but the delivery is unrivaled. “Winner” ft. Deonte, is even more original, as its bass-driven soundscape builds a foundation to The Godfada’s poker-faced flow.
But no to be outdone by any other track-listing, The Godfada leaves the best for last, with the track “Killers On The Roof ft. Danny G”, slow burning banger, with a recurring piano line, that is nothing less than mesmerizing. The production is almost experimental, dirty, and solid, and it fits The Godfada’s lyrical fist like a glove.
The first listen to the “Boss” EP will probably be the hardest, as it is so antithetical to any sound rap is currently producing, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll keep coming back to The Godfada’s one of a kind flow. Guaranteed!
