TreeHouse Cabaret consists of Richard Rodriguez, Oscar Hernandez and Gerardo Coronado. Richard had been in many bands growing up. For one reason or another it never worked out with them. Richard jammed with many musicians before finding chemistry with a couple of old buddies from high school. The three quickly found themselves spending tremendous amounts of time playing together, thus becoming TreeHouse Cabaret. The band has just released its latest single, entitled “Sun Off The Beach”.
TreeHouse Cabaret stands out from the explosion of other bands in their genre both musically and lyrically. The dynamic combination of a catchy, infectious, upbeat tune with a both raw and polished sound – that even switches tempos – is pulled off flawlessly, and reveals confidence and undeniable talent.
Lyrically, “Sun Off The Beach” is typically both smart and ironic as perfectly befits the punk genres. The song hints at personal experiences, resulting in a carefully-crafted, raw, and relatable anthem. The Lead vocalist sings passionately and perfectly while the other members do much to intensify and enrich the track.
Obviously an indie-punk band like TreeHouse Cabaret represent many of the same qualities as other bands in the genre, but wholly on their own terms. They are melodic but biting; the music is bouncy, but insanely gripping; the lyrics are personal and edgy; and most importantly, the music is undeniably deluged in a trench of tension.
TreeHouse Cabaret sounds like they want to play until they drop, yet they are not overtly frenetic. In fact the tempo changes in “Sun Off The Beach” is indicative how ‘patient’ they are musically, completely decimating all the ‘angst’ preconceptions of how to categorize punk bands.
TreeHouse Cabaret hits hard and pushes the envelope in performance and songwriting skills. What people enjoy about bands like this in a movement that continues its growth in both representation and appeal, is its brutal honesty and intimate connection.
Straying away from elusive metaphors and complex metonymies, TreeHouse Cabaret throws their thoughts and issues in your face, regardless of interpretation and perspective. They utilize these very emotions and integrate them into their music subsequently creating a unique listening experience that anyone can relate to.
“Sun Off The Beach” is well thought-out and brilliantly delivered. If you are a fan of emotional music or just a music lover looking for the next big thing in indie punk, this track will definitely be a pleaser.
