Andreas Pareli (Helge Andreas Pareli Notland) is a Norwegian artist who sings as well as plays the piano and guitar. Andres who has a Master’s Degree in music, writes in many different styles and has released his latest track, “By The Spell”, which follows a Kizomba-like romantic slow rhythm.
The track which uses authentic acoustic instruments, is very easy listening and sensual on the ear. Kizomba which was born in Angola but quickly spread to other Portuguese speaking countries, eventually finding its way into Brazil and other Latin areas.
It is danced accompanied by a partner, very smoothly, slowly and sensuously, with frequent simultaneous hip rotations coordinated between dance partners, particularly in the quieter refrains of the music.
“By The Spell” with its gentle rhythms and Andreas Pareli’s deep and sensual baritone voice, will certainly have you spellbound while looking into your dance partner’s eyes. Andreas’ performance comes across as romantic, cool, and suave – drenched in melody and passion.
Like a Mozart of modern pop music, for the majority of US audiences Andreas Pareli’s is perhaps still an undiscovered male vocalist. This is truly a shame, because this sophisticated song could easily expose Andreas as the equivalent talent as was the oh-so-smooth Sade, to millions of pop fans here in the US.
For the moment this has not happened, and consequently Andreas Pareli’s still remains one of Europe’s best kept secrets. Andreas is essentially a superb songwriter and vocalist and his musical style is difficult to categorize as it contains pop, jazz, electronic, and classical elements, sometimes all at the same time.
The common denominators between all of these complex compositions, however, are beautiful melodies and deep lyrics that transcend the simplicity of ordinary pop music. The verses trigger greater flames in a fire of ardor and pleasure which erupt with the opening whisper of the track, and completes itself with the closing bars, of a song that is tremendously evocative and thrilling.
Throughout Andreas’ voice is as rich as coffee, as smooth as silk. In “By The Spell” he re-defines the possibilities of what pop music can be… what it should be… pure art and not just background or radio filler. Though everyone should thoroughly enjoy his music at a basic level, the deeper, reflective souls among us will get the most of this incredibly talented artist.
Who says we have no Mozart’s among us in pop music today?
