Venus Ferrari: “Beautiful Disaster” blends several musical aesthetics into a cohesive dark electronic soundscape

Venus Ferrari who started out playing the piano at 5, also learned to play the cello, violin, the clarinet, the flute and the organ as a kid. She grew up in London, and has been writing songs since her early teens. Venus traveled across Europe performing with cover and tribute band as well as busking on the streets, before finally ending up in Italy where a series of coincidences led to meeting producer Lex Mars with whom she’s been working with for the last 2 years.

The result is her apocalyptic 21st century love-drama induced, electro-pop single – “Beautiful Disaster”, built around the theme of couples who self-destruct in the modern era.

It’s really an incredible vision from a true artist in every sense of the word. In today’s music, we have to make the distinction between performers and artists – those that create and those who are like finely tuned athletes that are merely following a game plan given to them by a team of coaches and trainers.

Venus Ferrari is a true artist, who writes and performs. The first thing that people will notice right off the bat with Venus is her breathy full-pitched voice. She can carve through electronic landscapes and her voice will melt into the sonic scenery like butter on a hot scone.

Venus Ferrari seamlessly blends several musical aesthetics into a cohesive dark electronic soundscape that swirls and thumps and dances about with unabashed emotion. Her voice is at once soothing and titillating, yet edgy and prophetic – flitting through the air sounding like a hybrid between a frolicking fairy and runaway renegade.

Sonically cohesive yet musically promiscuous, Lex Mars’ bass-driven electro production bounces, pushes and slams the lyrical content into gear. Mars’ good instincts and strong ideas emerge with well-crafted basslines that slither about with propulsion and intent, as the beat clicks with urgency, and Venus Ferrari’s voice is soars to the top.

“Beautiful Disaster” will intrigue you; it aptly imitates and smoothly incorporates various moods, atmospheres and current themes together in a decidedly pop casing and despite the dark exterior, it is compelling and totally beautiful.

Throughout the song, Venus Ferrari shows a natural attachment to the glossy appeal and universal reach of modern electronic and pop music, but more important is her ability to draw out the latent darker versatility of these genres, rarely touched on in the mainstream, especially in the span of a single four-and-a-half-minute recording.
