The Smashed Idols: “Bring The Invasion” delivers full bore alternative rock sounds!

On the songs, “Bring The Invasion” and “Make Your Toes Curl”, The Smashed Idols demonstrate their versatility and musical strength. There’s plenty of heat here, mixed with great chord progressions, mood inspirations, and straight ahead rock n’ punk. This is a musical treat for anyone who likes good solid rock and roll. So much out there these days is simply in your face walls of sound without any substance. The Smashed Idols have substance, and they please on all levels!

The songs are extremely hooky, while they define pure emotionally charged rock with no strings attached, a solid guitar attack and an amazing rhythm section. It would be a complete understatement to say that these are good songs. Both “Bring The Invasion” and “Make Your Toes Curl”, are pure hard hitting, balls to the wall rock. Like their previous releases, these tracks are a reflection of The Smashed Idols’ pure talent and ability. Nothing artificial here, this is just great rock and roll executed on a level that is slowly, but surely, vanishing.

The Smashed Idols write guitar riffs which borrow from the rock testament and infuse it into something brand new, with a touch of raw punk bravado. I’m admittedly a 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s hard rock fan. These days it’s hard to find many new rock releases that keep my attention for more than one or two rotations, but this is a must have for any old-school rock and punk music fan.

The Smashed Idols have gone into some other rock and roll musical realm here, and just knocked it out of the park. “Make Your Toes Curl” comes out slowly with some laid-back picking on the electric. But then you realize this song means business when you start to hear the bass and guitar riffs crash in with a powerful vocal from G Blue. With a stunning chord progression this song is the complete package because it has great lyrics and a great melody to match. “Bring The Invasion” doesn’t disappoint in the slightest and from the opening riff and those thumping drums, you know you are in for a treat. G Blue’s vocals are raw and the song is infectious.  The Smashed Idols know how to write songs with catchy hooks, ripping riffs and scream along lyrics and this track is no exception.

If you are an existing fan you will be delighted with these releases and if you are new to The Smashed Idols then this is as good a place as any to start. This band Houston, Texas, is not shy about its music, rather than mixing a sound that appeals to mid-range ear buds, The Smashed Idols delivers full bore alternative rock sounds.
