Writing and recording music since he was 16 years old, SwizZy B is a Puerto Rican hip hop artist, producer and record label owner based in Orlando, Florida. Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised all over Florida, SwizZy B has worked with artists of the caliber of Tech N9ne, Snow Tha Product, Raekwon from Wu Tang Clan, Young Dolph, Kirko Bangz, Kap G, J Holiday, Nardo Wick, HotBoii and many more. SwizZy B, who also runs a music collective called LoUD Life Crew, is currently working on his first official fully self-produced EP and has dropped the project’s lead single, entitled “Tears of Gold”. In the meantime the ambitious upcoming artist has also been added to a prestigious show with Snow Tha Product, that went down on October 7th in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the historic JANNUS LIVE venue.
Most of the songs in SwizZy B’s catalog are explosive, head-banging grooves and the rappers just sounds deadly assured of his skillset. The latest single “Tears of Gold” has a foreboding synth bass, and some mystical, watery keys laced throughout. This track is impressive in that it has not only quality rapping and quality production but also a quality adlib vocal hook that runs in the background.
Lyrically, SwizZy B is a monster on this beat, as he lays out his hard-hitting narrative. The opening lines: “Spilling my heart out for no reason, I guess the road got my soul bleeding,” promises open-hearted, honest storytelling, unafraid to unfold the rapper’s thoughts.
And that is exactly what happens moving forward, as SwizZy B unwraps the key points of his grind with self-empowering pride. He once proves that he’s able to consistently put out tracks that are exciting in a way few other artists could be.
The reason why SwizZy B will soon be creeping into the hip hop conversation, is in fact his consistency. He’s been releasing music in multiple forms, and the venom in his bars never let up. He is the kind of artist that does what he wants, and he does it like no one else does.
“Tears of Gold” is a fantastic single project, one that is like a well written sentence: short and sweet. It is full of nods to the artist’s influences, but also explores new ground.
SwizZy B always drops fire, and there is no change up for Tears of Gold”. The production does a fantastic job with the beat, keeping it layered and interesting, while still leaving spaces for SwizZy B, allowing him plenty of room to do what he does.
The rapper’s delivery as usual has a high level of energy and when it’s over this bumping production, it just makes the track go hard and get you hyped. His flow is constantly switching to grab your attention.
SwizZy B carries the charisma and skill necessary to leave a lasting impact and eventually threaten the thrones of hip hop’s more influential stars. On “Tears of Gold” everything in its place and everything complements each other. In terms of lyrics, everything is as good as the music. Above it all however, stands SwizZy B’s artistic and technical skills. It’s absolutely everything you want from a modern-day rapper.
