Rod Carrillo: “Alegre” is already on the Top 50 Billboard Dance Chart!

Rod Carrillo head of A & R and production for the label Carrillo Music which has charted over 50 tracks on the Billboard and Radio charts since its inception in 2008 is also an artist in his own right and has released his latest track, “Alegre”. The infectious Latin/African dance composition instantly got off the ground running and has already catapulted straight into the Top 50 Billboard Dance Chart. “Alegre” is available on Carrillo Music/Stepperman and includes remixes from the Hoxton Whores, KSO, Eddie Amador, DJ Kue, Fenix, Ralphi Rosario and Peter Brown.

In true Carrillo underground fashion, Rod makes the difficult task of production look easy.  The music deftly sets the tone for what we’ll no doubt be hearing from him this year: massive club appeal rhythms with big, stadium-ready drops. I kind of get chills every time I hear it.

It screams summer and happiness and all things good in the world. This is Rod Carrillo music at his best, and I just love the juxtaposition of supporting remixes which bring a whole set of new flavors to the table.

Each of these remixes is intricately crafted and melds so many types of sounds so well. The standard build-up/drop song structure is also expertly used in different ways for maximal hands-in-the-air fun. These remixes all have their own original dance flavors inspired by the various producers/dj’s behind the boards.

We will obviously all have our own favorites, depending on the style that best suits our tastes. Besides Carrillo’s mixes, the remixes that impressed me most, are the Hoxton Whores Club Mix, the Kissy Sell Out VIP Club Mix and the Kue Remix.

When you’re in the game as long as Rod Carrillo it can be hard to keep up with what’s hot, but he has demonstrated his ability to remain at the forefront of music time and again. Just check the number of Billboard successes his relatively small independent label has had.

In its entirety “Alegre” is an excellent representation of not only Carrillo’s intelligent and focused sound, but what the current pulse of hardcore underground EDM sans pop-styled vocals, should sound like.

The one thing that Rod Carrillo always brings to the game is his ability to take a normal instrumental mix, swing the rhythm, throw in a few voice samples and sounds and somehow culminate that into a roaring anthem for our dancing generation – Checkout the Fenix Club Mix and the grooving Club Mix for certification of my statement. Rod Carrillo once again holds his own, with these powerhouse dance tracks.
