Daniel Glover, who goes by stage name DJ D Glove, is a DJ based in Florida and an Army veteran injured in Afghanistan. Larry Gordon is a singer and songwriter, who grew up singing with his family band in Dallas, Texas since he was four years old. Although these two artists come from very different backgrounds, they are connected through music. Recently, Glover and Gordon released a single together, entitled “Good Time”. This track is incredibly unexpected and pretty much irresistible. An infectious beat, feel-good vibe, and, of course, amazing vocals. What more could you want from an uplifting electro track. Throw in a sweet and soulful melody, as well as a deep rolling bass line, and you have an inspired groove. That’s what DJ D Glove & Larry Gordon bring to the table here. And they do so in an uncomplicated and understated way.
The instrumentation on “Good Time” is kept to the essentials by DJ D Glove, as he employs a hand-clapping beat, light bubbling keys, and grounding bass line. This keeps the momentum of the song flowing in a forward motion, while leaving plenty of room for Larry Gordon to run his far-reaching vocal cords along.
It’s easy to acknowledge “Good Time” as being undeniable for what it is, an iconic modern-day electronic track that’s so open-ended it outgrows its very genre, unable to be contained within any four-walled enclosure. This could be in the club, on radio, and definitely on the mainstream Top 40 charts.
“Good Time” is made up of components that anyone will find beyond enjoyable. The songs each have a backstory and you can feel it throughout the music. Whether you like party music, catchy pop choruses, or soulful R&B styled crooning, you’ll find it within this song’s three minutes run-time. Between all these components, the song enamors the ear of all that are pulled in by its sonic elegance.
The surefire mellifluous vocals from Larry Gordon and the teasing synths playing off each other make for a truly splendid effect, the high-rising vocals of Larry meshing perfectly with the airy tones of DJ D Glove’s keys. And of course, the all-round smooth production brings the track together in the best way possible.
With expectations met, and shall I say, superseded, immediately I hit replay. This track is going round again and I’m not the only one within ear shot of my sound system who is pleased about it. The key element which makes a record of this seemingly simplistic nature standout. Intelligence.
This track is put together by artists with a wealth of talent, intelligence and an idea of how to make the roots of an uplifting groove and melody come alive. DJ D Glove & Larry Gordon are the perfect allies for this infectious sound.
Combined, they produce a track which stands out and treats the listener to an experience they won’t readily forget because they won’t take it out of their media player for weeks. A great record, a great experience and hats off to a great recording team.
