CA $ELL: ‘Grade “A” Disco Sh$t (Special Edition)’ – old school flavors and a deep groove!

CA $ELL is an underground producer and artist who has worked with people such as, Pimp C of UGK, Mystikal, George Clinton and Jason Neville among others. An atypical rapper, CA $ELL has released his 5 track EP entitled ‘Grade “A” Disco Sh$t (Special Edition)’. The Ep is all about groove and soul.

CA $ELL has a very original and creative rapping style that is humorous and fun to listen to. He varies his tempo, his volume, and his flow while rapping, making this a very entertaining listen. He is also a great lyricist. The beats and the music are your typical alternative rap-type music, which means it’s creatively done well and isn’t 100% repetitive like most rap music you’ll hear nowadays.

ca-sell-coverFrom track two, “Still Bouncin’”, CA $ELL set’s up shop with his unorthodox style and flow. His style is unlike any other in the rap game. His cadence, use of swift, old-school tongue-twisting flow, and voice variations etc. make him an instant ear trap.

“Ballin” is a non-stop lyrical assault delivered with unparalleled poise over a hand-clapping beat. Just because that song is so great doesn’t mean the rest of the EP is weak. CA $ELL drops some unforgettable quotables and choruses on “4/20 – April 20th On Cloud Nine”. His technique is that straight fire, as he delivers confident lines.

Every single song on here is the joint but my favorites include the bonus tracks – the screwed snippet “Jack Tripper”, and the funky soul-driven “All About”. All-round, the beats are off the chain and perfectly compliment CA $ELL’s unique style.

Overall you should make every effort to hear this EP. It is definitely a classic sounding recording that is nearly untouchable by the modern rap sounds that are currently doing the rounds. This is a diamond in the rough.

Let’s talk about the music? Yes, the music is original, urgent and intense with deep groove and undertow. These sounds have identities. They are not simply club bumps to spit a few lines over. If this EP was recorded without vocals at all, it would still get the point across in a damn scary way.

As for the spitting skills, CA $ELL’s inflection, tone, pace, volume and style make good lyrics sound great and force the listener to pay close attention. If you’re into old school flavors and a deep groove, everything on here is fantastic, including the features and guests, and you’d be hard-pressed to find something here that you won’t love.
