Darrell Tyrone Hampton Jr, also known as Young Canon, was born in Gulfport, Ms on May 23, 1986. Young Canon had an ear for music at a young age, growing up listening to rap legends such as Master P, NWA and LL Cool J. Young Canon had a natural presence and a natural poetic flow that led him to do small performances on the local club scene. The club performances got him recognized by Blaine Ashley (Pass Christian native), who managed and took Young Canon under his wing so he could learn the ropes of the music industry.
While with Blaine Ashley, Canon recorded his first album, “Big Thangs”, and after recording the album, Blaine used his connections in New York to set up several meetings with a few record company executives in New York, but they did not pan out. Canon went back to the drawing board to perfect his craft with new concepts, beats and new determination to make it.
Through ups and downs of his music journey, Canon finally had his break to perform on the stage at the MGM grand Baseball field with International Pop star Flo-Rida. Canon was granted this opportunity by The Owners of the Biloxi Shuckers (Tim Bennett, Blaine Henderson), to show and prove he had what it took to become an American Star.
With a level head, and fire burning inside, and his new label SBE (Southern Boy Empire) on the rise, Young Canon is relentless and ready to show the world what hard work and prayers get you.
