Twin Towers: “No SleepVille Vol:1” illuminates the gritty street life

From Waka Homes Memphis TN, Twin Towers is made up of the twin brothers Keys the beast and Swissh da Rock star. A few months ago Twin Towers dropped the mixtape “No SleepVille Vol:1” featuring some of the best Midwest talent. Including Trub 6block, Blizzard, E Loc,  Deda DoGG, Novacain, Sire Montana, kilo, Young Sta, Young Hustle, Moe Money, Lu Kane.

First thing that’s immediately noticeable with “No SleepVille Vol:1” is the very distinct style it has. Though still having radio-friendly synths and auto-tune, the expertly put together beats look simple enough on the surface but go quite deep and feels like a breath of fresh air when compared to mainstream rap music today.

Twin-Towers-400Lyrically, Twin Towers isn’t just here, but they’re here with guns a blazing. “Kush Cloud” is an intense way to start the mixtape, and it only gets better from there. Most successful Hip-Hop albums today are usually packed beginning to end with guest features. “No SleepVille Vol:1” is absolutely no different as we’re presented with about 11 guest spots. But that’s also part of the magic here.

This is a Twin Towers mixtape through and through, not once will you feel like any of the guests are trying to out-do Keys the beast and Swissh da Rock star or even take the spotlight from them, as Twin Towers always shine the brightest. In fact the brightest spots of the mixtape are the stunning songs, “Kush Cloud”, “Fuck Ya”, “Skirt”, “Ball” and “Rocky Balboa”. However if you dig features, then lend an ear to “Ridin Around” ft. Moe Money and “Loot Me” ft Deda Dog.

I really wasn’t expecting too much, but the flows, the music, and the concepts all fit together perfectly. Furthermore the lyrical skill and the ability to choose awesome tracks also come together on “No SleepVille Vol:1”. Every single track on this mixtape is well produced, well written, and addictive as Twin Towers’ hard-spit street-smart rhymes, illuminates the gritty street life full of hustlin’ and women. The unrelentless, aggressive flows and production reflects this across the tracks. For those of you just discovering Twin Towers’, let me say welcome to a new world of rap music. You will definitely appreciate the verbal savagery displayed on this mixtape. Basically it contains all if not most of elements that comes with being great emcees, plus a nice variety of solid and interesting collaborations and a consistent production set.
