Steve Kaynan returns and releases new song “Babylon in Chains” that’s getting attention on Instagram from people around the globe. After his second album (2015’s ‘Multiverse’) got much radio and media attention (including Jamsphere!) Steve Kaynan headed to Nashville which lead him to doing numerous tours throughout the United States. He became known as a “singing guitarist” getting hired for touring acts that not only needed his guitar skills, his stage presence, but his tenor vocal abilities to sing the higher register notes on the more rock material. This led him to performing with members of KISS, Cinderella, and the current touring drummer for Pat Benatar.
Staying true to himself, this track is an absolute “go against the grain” in comparison to the current modern industry. Precision guitar riffs and solos, the songs entire entity gives nod to Alice In Chains, Pantera and others from the same era.
From the opening riff and right out the gate – Kaynan’s high vocal note is absolute utter sheer power and velocity in the highest order. The vocal melodies are well-written and the harmonies and twin lead parts are awesome. The lyrical content is yet another 180 degrees compared to current norms and trends.
Many of Steve Kaynan’s followers are re-sharing this track on Instagram as the song also pays homage to their countries culture and history. There also seems to be a metaphorical element in the writing while the instrumentation is very tight, ruthless, and menacing sounding throughout.
The eastern Arabic/ Hebrew vocal lines at the end are hauntingly beautiful while that additional high note prior, begs the question – is Kaynan the next “Air Raid” or “Screaming” Siren of this generation? In an era of processed vocal lines with effects units used to do the singing, this is a major change of pace. This sounds completely natural and organic. In addition to his music, Steve Kaynan is also a guitar teacher in the Kansas City area, records session vocals in his home and is getting a History major through Arizona State University.
