Billy Wesmond Attempts to Escape the Shadows by Releasing New Album – “IMPOSTER!”

Independent artist Billy Wesmond, known for his genre-bending music and raw DIY approach, has released a new album entitled “IMPOSTER!”, a shadowy exploration of identity, deception, and escapism. The album is available exclusively on Bandcamp for purchase, while a free streaming version is available on YouTube.

The young musician has recently garnered attention for his eclectic sound, which seamlessly merges influences ranging from country blues and gospel, to post-punk. Psychedelic rock and even electronic music. At just 24 years old, Wesmond has already self-released more than 10 albums and EP’s. Now, with “IMPOSTER!”, he plunges deeper into the abyss, crafting an album that reflects a fractured reality where nothing—and no one—is as it seems.

Recorded entirely in his bedroom, “IMPOSTER!” was created in the true spirit of DIY music. Every note, lyric, and production element was meticulously handled by the artist himself. The album delves into a world where identity is fluid, and the boundaries between reality and illusion blur. “This record is about identity, cheaters, shape shifters, criminals & voodoo magic,” says Wesmond. “It’s about taking on different forms, playing pretend to avoid a dull reality.”

Musically, “IMPOSTER!” is as chaotic and multifaceted as its themes. Wesmond weaves together an intricate tapestry of genres that have influenced his work from the start. “All I can really sing is the blues,” Wesmond explains. “Everything else is an experiment.”

There are 9 tracks on the album, and every one of them adds a new flair to the bigger picture of a fluid identity. Slow and melancholic tracks like “I’m not from here,” cut deeply into Wesmond’s confusion and alienation from the world. Other songs present a confident character with strong faith, like “I got an Instinct,” which uses a chillingly dissonant guitar riff and a driving punk rock groove.

“IMPOSTER!” is available on YouTube for free. “I’m tired of waiting to get paid half a pube for every 30 seconds of streaming or whatever, so I’m off Spotify and all that,” says Wesmond. “It’s on Youtube for absolutely FREE! Everybody likes YouTube, right?” People can also purchase a digital version of the record on Bandcamp, where it includes a couple of exclusive bonus tracks. When asked about Bandcamp, Wesmond stated “Bandcamp is the best. They let set your own prices and do it yourself.”

Wesmond. He has been constantly writing, recording, and releasing music independently since 2019, creating a unique sound that spans multiple genres. Based in the small town of Kavala (Greece) where he was born and raised, Wesmond is known for his DIY ethos, producing all his music from his home. Recently he has been performing his material as the lead singer and guitarist of “The Bombcats”, a four-piece band formed in Kavala that has been raising eyebrows with their unapologetic loud & psychedelic sound.
