Jacquie Joy, an Australian composer, sound designer and music producer has been recognised with two prestigious nominations for her music scores in The Hollywood Music in Media Awards™ (The HMMAs). The HMMAs honour original music (song and score) in visual media from around the globe including film, TV, video games, trailers, commercial advertisements, documentaries and special programs. The HMMAs are broadly considered within the industry as the main springboard to Emmy and Oscar nominations.
Jacquie Joy’s original score, Forest Rituals has been nominated in the Horror/Thriller Category for an HMMA. The track is from an upcoming indie horror movie On Witches Blood, filmed in Texas, USA and directed by Susan Bohl.
Jacquie Joy’s second nomination is for her score, Diana Title Theme which has been nominated in the Dramatic/Crime category. The title track is from a web series called Diana, filmed in Brisbane, Australia and directed by Peter Koevari.
“It is an incredible feeling being nominated for HMMAs once more, and this time for soundtracks in my two favourite genres,” said Ms Joy. “It also feels quite surreal to be nominated alongside distinguished and talented composers such as my composing hero, Ronit Kirchman who’s music I love in The Sinner (Netflix) and
Evil Eye (Amazon Prime),” she added.
Previously Ms Joy was nominated in 2020 and 2021 for HMMAs in the World Music category. This year, she has been the recipient of a Telly Award and a Communicator Award for best music for a world music score written for Expedia’s Osaka Travel Guide. Ms Joy is also a nominee for Best Music Score in the Virginia, USA Magic of Horror Film Festival for a horror /sci fi soundtrack she wrote for Attack of the Cat People.
Ms Joy who resides in Brisbane, Australia has done composition and sound design work for over 50 indie short and feature films. She has also has recently written, produced and released an EDM/cyberpunk style single You’ll Feel Nothing (feat. Nomi Abadi).
